I began practicing yoga in 1994 while studying at the University of Amsterdam. In 2001 I moved to Chicago from my hometown of Dublin to earn a Ph.D in philosophy. I began teaching at Moksha Yoga in Chicago in 2003 and in 2006 relocated to Los Angeles, where I have taught at many studios and have a robust clientele of private clients.

I hold 3 degrees in philosophy and have been studying Indian mythology since 2020. Studying yoga philosophy has broadened the scope of my philosophical understanding and competence. The world of Indian mythology has given me an additional paradigm for appreciation of the complexity of human experience and consciousness.

I have worked with diverse populations including prison inmates, young people with severe physical disabilities, Navy Seals and Veterans with PTSD. They say you can only take people as deep as you’ve gone yourself and my own experience with physical and emotional trauma, anxiety and depression has caused me to navigate the depths. Going through breast cancer has given me additional tools for working with people who have or have had cancer.

I am also a writer, you can find me on Cogitate, my Substack page. My writing has been published in the Irish Times, LA Yoga, Yoga Journal, The Huffington Post, Elephant Journal, Origin Magazine and numerous other publications. My philosophy background adds depth and intellectual sophistication to both my writing and my approach to yoga. I believe in asking questions, rejecting dogma and thinking critically. I believe that yoga is a methodology for self-exploration and for making meaningful connections to yourself, others and the world around you.

An advanced Ashtanga yoga practitioner, my superpower is holding a robust container for practice with empathy, intuition, deep listening and vibrant presence. My teaching is accented by my Dublin wit and warmth, my keen intelligence, combined with dynamic sequencing and attention to breath. I am gifted at making yoga practice enjoyable and accessible; I offer clear instruction, skillful hands-on assists and extensive knowledge of yoga poses and their benefits.
